PowerPoint presentation now gets a classy lift with the coming of PowerPoint 2010. At 2WebVideo we are pleased to showcase new possibilities for PowerPoint to video with a series of video tutorials.

In this first tutorial we will look at designing the background of the PowerPoint slides. As in the case of PowerPoint 2007, here too you have a large number of ready templates to choose from. After selecting the one that suits best for your needs, you can then proceed to do more in your slide.

Watch the following YouTube video we have made for some idea on how to go about.

Give Your PowerPoint Presentation A Touch Of Class

As you’ve seen in the video it is possible to play with a large number of permutations and combinations to give your presentation a distinct look.

The cool thing about PowerPoint is that as you move the mouse over the various options, the get-up of the slide changes accordingly, making it fairly easy to try out different things.

The main steps for designing the background are as under:

  1. Open PowerPoint 2010, and click Design on the main menu.
  2.

  3. A range of background designs opens up on the ribbon. Scroll the section down (scrolling arrows on the right of the section), and select the one appropriate for your need.
  4.

  5. Once the design is applied to the main work area, you can make further changes in the slide background so that you get the right mix for your PowerPoint presentation. To do this, right-click anywhere on the work area and from the dropdown menu, select Format Background.
  6.

  7. The Format Background box now opens up. Shift the box to one side, and just go on testing various options for filling the background.
  8.

  9. Once your work is over, and you’re satisfied with the result (you can always change later), save it by either clicking Close for the current slide, or Apply to All for all the slides in the PowerPoint presentation.

The following images give you a glimpse of how the slide of my PowerPoint presentation has changed as I went on making alterations to it.
