Thanks for the detailed post in reference to flash players and mp4 I think this is why the screen goes black when uploading a mp4 in wordpress. The WordPress site offers to embed an FLV yet when done with an mp4 you get sound and no video or picture.
I think you resolved this by letting us know it is a missing a codec in WordPress’s Plug-in’s–I use Vipers video tags for my plug in. But I must use Youtube to get the video (only mp4′s) to show picture instead of using WordPress’s embeded video player.
I think that is the Java command that is missing in Worpress or Vipers or JW’s player?
The same Mp4 plays fine via Youtube— or using a my own ‘stand-alone’ FLV player but won;t using an embeded JW flash player for an Mp4 file.
