How useful is the just-launched YouTube Video Editor? The answer will vary depending on how involved you are into making online video. It’s said that the video editor is for amateurs, which it is for sure. But even among amateurs there has to be some difference between those who know nothing more than simply uploading their videos from cameras, and others who have a little more knowledge about online video.
I belong to the second group of amateurs, and I have no hesitation to say that YouTube’s video editor as of now is firmly meant for the first group of amateurs, who can now trim video, and group 2 or more of their videos online.

You may feel YouTube is clever so far audio is concerned. Why? Well, there is no way you can change the original soundtrack of your videos when you trim or join them, so perhaps you’ll prefer a common background music from YouTube’s vast AudioSwap Library. In which case YouTube can show ads on your video.

One would have thought that it will be possible to do video editing for videos uploaded straight from a camera, but no, that’s not allowed. So the videos must be already uploaded and available for public display in your account, and from these you select the ones you want to club together to make yet another video.
There is an opinion that the YouTube’s video editor has filled the void left behind by Yahoo’s buying and then abandoning JumpCut, which was popular with online video makers. As time passes, and YouTube improves upon the video editor, there is a strong chance that this latest product from YouTube will emerge (from nowhere) to transform every video camera user to online video maker.
When that happens, imagine the benefits accruing to YouTube. After all, who doesn’t want to be seen making YouTube video, at a place frequented by billions of people worldwide!
