Carrying on from the last article on creating picture-in-picture inset video on a ‘PowerPoint video’, in this one we’ll see the main video being made to tilt even as the inset video plays on. See the video below.
Why Inset Video?
As pointed in the last video article, some practical uses of a picture-in-picture inset video in a PowerPoint video for online viewing can be summarized below:
- In online teaching course, a PowerPoint video may explain the lessons with slides that advance automatically at preset times while an inset video shows instructor giving narration or any other relevant video-shoot.
- Corporate presentations can be similarly made into PowerPoint videos, and can include the organization’s finance/marketing/sales representative in the inset video even as the slides actually explain the things being told.
The Need For ‘Tilt’
Video makers may feel there is a touch of aesthetics when the main video tilts to one side. Viewers may agree or disagree on that.
There is however no denying that by tilting the main video on one side more space is created to the opposite side. This helps because many a time the inset video occupies much of the space in the main video.
If the PowerPoint slides that go to make the online video are so designed that the inset video doesn’t interfere, then it’s okay.
In many cases an inset video is added as an afterthought in which case space needs to be generated in order to accommodate the inset video. Tilting becomes necessary in such instances.
Another way to avoid the inset video infringing upon the main video is by locating it outside as table of contents. We will see this in a forthcoming article.
