Hiring Voice For Podcast

Come now, not everyone possesses the perfect voice for a perfect podcast! Many of us feel (including a few of us :-) ) we have great voice, but after we make the podcast we know in the back of our mind that our voice hasn’t been up to the mark.

Here are some of the reasons why your voice may not be the ideal one:

  1. If your work doesn’t need much of speaking, your voice may lack an inflection of the tone or pitch thereby lacking the use of stress or pitch to convey meaning. A ‘monotone’ voice is simply monotonous.
  2. Conversely if your work requires too much of talking, chance is your voice changes the tone or pitch so frequently that it sometimes sounds too shrill and therefore unnerving.
  3. Pronunciation of a language varies widely from one place to another. Thus, an Australian speaking English may be undecipherable by a listener from say China.
  4. Similar to pronunciation, flow of talk also varies from place to place. For example an Indian may stress on a conjunction or preposition or an adverb differently from an American.
  5. Some narrations can be better in a female voice or vice versa instead of your ‘single gender’ rendering.
  6. Despite good voice you’re down with a medical problem and therefore not in a position to record an urgent narration.

There could be other reasons as to why you may prefer a voice other than yours. The problem though doesn’t end here. Rather it’s just the beginning. Why?

After you decide you need to hire a voice you have to find out where to hire, whom to hire, and above all how to go about. True, if you search for ‘hiring voice’ Google will fetch you lots of results. But the job can become painstaking to find out the best deal.
