Going by a May 2008 article by Bryson Meunier (discussed in detail in the fourth day lesson of our free 6-day course) you’ll find that in the US about 86% of the popular videos in YouTube belong to Arts & Entertainment followed way behind by Sports & Recreation at 5%. All the other video categories share the remaining 9% of the popular queries in YouTube.
Further, within Arts & Entertainment, music took away the major chunk (71%) for being the most queried of all YouTube videos.
This piece of statistics shows that most people watch videos that are primarily camera movies. Meanwhile a year and a half has passed since the above report, and YouTube video views worldwide have leapfrogged to touch 36 billion every month.
In view of the foregoing the skeptics may say that non-camera web videos have a bleak future in comparison with those made from video cameras. But is that true?
It is like how you view a glass half-filled with water. We at 2WebVideo mainly make the ‘other web videos’ that do not necessarily have videocam movies. The viewership of our videos has been increasing every day, and this leads us to conclude that there is an immense scope of non-camera web videos, and this has not yet been tapped the way it should have been.
Indeed educative and demonstrative videos – such as the ones made with PowerPoint – are better made without videocam movies. And who doesn’t agree there is a giant market for educative videos in almost all spheres of knowledge gathering?
